I find it difficult to give a good answer to this. Because my sight has deteriorated rapidly in a short time, it is difficult to determine what I should aim for.
There is just a real chance that I will wake up tomorrow without sight, but this can also take 1 week / month / year. Doctors cannot give me any clarity about this because I am the first in NL to have this combination of retinal disease and optic nerve abnormality.
In order to make my wishes clear to you, I hope that I can continue to enjoy swimming as long as possible.
After the European Championship in 2018, the World Championships in 2019 and 2022 and the Paralympic Games in 2021, I hope to be able to swim in many more final tournaments in the coming years.
And… yes, I keep dreaming of the Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024.
